High baseline systolic blood pressure may be risk factor for dementia cognitive impairment
Higher baseline systolic blood pressure may be a strong risk factor for dementia and cognitive impairment in patients with chronic kidney disease, according to a recently published study. “High blood pressure and cognitive impairment are common in adults with chronic kidney disease,” Seda Babroudi, MD, of the William B. Schwartz Division of Nephrology in Boston, and colleagues wrote.
Kidney disease strongest predictor of sudden cardiac arrest for Hispanic/Latino adults
Data from a population-based study show more than half of all Hispanic or Latino adults who experienced sudden cardiac arrest had a prior diagnosis of chronic kidney disease, with 20% on dialysis, researchers reported.

Conservative kidney management may be a viable treatment for patients with chronic kidney disease, but researchers found not many patients are aware of the therapy. For older adults with comorbidities, “there is increasing evidence for the potential of [conservative kidney management (CKM)] to maintain quality of life without necessarily decreasing life expectancy,” Jennifer S.
