DaVita names David Maughan as chief operating officer

DaVita has appointed David Maughan as its new chief operating officer, according to a company press release.
“Dave's extensive experience in operations leadership coupled with his deep knowledge of DaVita's business positions him well to build upon our incredible foundation of operational excellence and lead our ongoing efforts in care delivery and health care innovation,” Javier Rodriguez, CEO of DaVita, said in the release.
Maughan will work with the DaVita executive leadership team on strategic clinical initiatives to advance kidney care, according to the release. He formerly filled various leadership positions since joining DaVita in 2006, most recently as senior vice president, in which he oversaw hospital and home treatment strategic functions. Maughan also worked with human resources, talent strategy, information technology, state government affairs and communications that affected more than 65,000 employees and 200,000 patients.
“I'm honored to step into the role of chief operating officer at DaVita, supporting our talented operations as they deliver an integrated kidney care platform that is designed to seamlessly support patients through every phase of care,” Maughan said in the release.
Mike Staffieri will operate as chief operating officer emeritus for DaVita. The appointments were effective as of Sept. 15.
