NKF hires former CMS staffer to handle government relations

The National Kidney Foundation has named Jesse Roach, MD, who previously worked for CMS and CVS Kidney Care, as senior vice president of government relations, according to a press release.
“As interim [senior vice president] SVP, Roach has already made significant contributions to [the National Kidney Foundation] NKF's government relations agenda and team,” Kevin Longino, CEO of the NKF, said in the release. “He is already active and well versed in our mission. His insights and leadership will undoubtedly enhance our efforts to champion kidney health and improve kidney equity for all.”
Roach was formerly chief medical officer for quality measurement at CMS and recently served as chief medical officer for CVS Kidney Care, according to the release.
Roach will be based in Washington, D.C., and help drive the legislative agenda of the NKF, leading advocacy efforts, such as the NKF annual Kidney Patient Summit, on behalf of the organization.
“I have had the pleasure of being able to work closely with the NKF throughout my career in clinical practice and government,” Roach said in the release. “I have always been impressed with the organization’s commitment to patients with kidney disease. I am thrilled to be able to join the NKF team and look forward to continuing to work for patients.”
