PALM SPRINGS, Calif. — In this interview, incoming American Nephrology Nurses Association president Jennifer E. Payton, MHCA, BSN, RN, CNN, discusses the importance of celebrating National Nurses Month, including for those in nephrology.
“During National Nurses Month, we need to think about all the great things that nurses do, each and every day, and we need to celebrate that for all specialties, including nephrology,” Payton, director of regulatory compliance for the National Dialysis Accreditation Commission, told Healio at the ANNA National Symposium in Palm Springs, California.
The theme for National Nurses Month, which occurs in May and is sponsored by the American Nurses Association, is “Nurses make a difference, anytime, anyplace – always.” Payton said nephrology nurses follow those principles. “Whether our nurses take care of patients in the hospital, in the outpatient dialysis center, at home or patients with a transplant, they do take care of patients anytime, anyplace and always,” she said.
