In this video, Paula LeClair, MBA, MHCDS, U.S. general manager at Healthy.io and chairperson for the American Diabetes Association Board in New England, discusses how the Minuteful Kidney test can improve screening adherence for chronic kidney disease.
“We have the first FDA-cleared CKD screening solution,” LeClair told Healio. She added, “It can be done totally from the privacy of your home with nothing except our kit, a cell phone and our app. So, we are raising adherence from 20% up to 50% in some of the demographics we are testing.”
The home test consists of a collection cup for urine, a dipstick and a color board for the stick. Users of the app can take a photo of the stick on the board and receive a screening result within minutes.
“I am happy to say that it is Diabetes Month. One in 10 people are living with diabetes. Diabetes is the number one risk factor for CKD,” LeClair said. She added, “Our goal is to raise testing adherence however that gets done.”
