CareDx Inc. announced the launch of AlloHome, a pan-organ patient monitoring tool located on the AlloCare app that can capture health data from the comfort of a patient’s home, according to a press release.
Patients who use AlloHome receive Bluetooth devices, including a glucose monitor and a blood pressure cuff, that automatically pair with a smart hub in the house. Data also pair with the patient’s AlloCare app.
“A range of vital health data is captured in the AlloHome patient monitoring solution and real-time results are monitored closely, analyzed and reviewed with patients by specialized nurses,” Titte R. “Srini” Srinivas, MD, FAST, vice president of digital development and clinical integration at CareDx, told Healio. “These nurses will identify trends and escalate potential concerns to the patient’s doctor to help them with the early identification of adverse clinical events and the ability to intervene and make preemptive measures to drive patient adherence and avoid complications pre- and post-transplantation.”
In addition to the AlloHome feature, CareDx has also added a medication management tool to the AlloCare app with the goal of improving medication adherence among patients. This is a result of the recent acquisition of MedActionPlan PRO, a medication management and adherence platform, by CareDx
“With the recent integration of MedActionPlan PRO into the AlloCare app, participating transplant centers can now push personalized education, medication regimen details, and reminder alerts directly to their patient’s smartphone, eliminating manual entries and follow-up calls,” Srinivas told Healio. “AlloCare’s medication management feature can simplify post-transplant medication adherence and potentially eliminate complications that arise from errors with dosing and timing of medication. This feature is intended to not only automate physician-patient communication but also to help improve medication adherence. Research shows that up to 52% of patients do not take their medications as prescribed and that up to 60% of non-adherence is unintentional and may be a result of forgetting to take medication or lack of awareness of the importance of precise medication regimen adherence.”
