DaVita Kidney Care has appointed Mihran Naljayan, MD, as its new chief medical officer of home modalities, according to a press release.
Naljayan, clinical associate professor at Louisiana State University School of Medicine in New Orleans, will be replacing Martin Schreiber, MD, who filled the role since 2014. Schreiber will transition to a parttime consultant for DaVita’s future initiatives.
"I have deep gratitude for the countless physicians and patients Dr. Schreiber has inspired to become advocates for home treatments," Naljayan said in the release. "It's an honor to build on the foundation he set and further support physicians and patients who want to experience the benefit of treating at home."
Since joining DaVita in 2016, Naljayan has worked in the home dialysis program where he designed its home physician support network. In his new role, Naljayan will continue to run the initiative and maintain those responsibilities.
"Dr. Naljayan is a relentless innovator with a bold vision for at-home kidney care, including helping to increase equitable access to home dialysis for our patients," Jeff Giullian, MD, [chief medical officer] CMO for DaVita Kidney Care, said in the release. "With a proven track record, we know he'll continue to help expand and improve DaVita's capabilities as a comprehensive kidney care provider."
