The National Kidney Foundation bestowed its 2021 Council of Nephrology Nurses and Technicians award to Maria “Rosley” DeClaro, RN, BSN, CNN, according to a press release.

DeClaro is the third recipient of what the NKF considers its top nursing award, which is known as the Carol Mattix Award.

“As a home therapy nurse, Rosley has worked to give her patients the freedom and quality of life they never imagined while attending a center for dialysis,” NKF President Paul Palevsky, MD, said in the release.

According to the release, DeClaro has served as a registered nurse at Fresenius Kidney Care for more than 20 years. At Fresenius, she has worked in several capacities, including direct patient care and management. In 2009, she became involved with home therapies, which she has continued. DeClaro has helped develop nine home therapy programs in the Chicago area and has expanded her skillset to include pediatric dialysis.

“Rosley’s guidance and wisdom is more valued and appreciated by her fellow nurses than ever at this time,” Palevsky said.
