The National Renal Administrators Association has changed its name to Renal Healthcare Association, Supporting Dialysis Facilities and Professionals.

The name change better reflects the group’s diverse membership and the evolution of the dialysis industry, the organization said in a press release.

“By realigning ourselves with our strategic vision of cultivating a patient-focused, diverse, and collaborative community, we are confident that this change reflects our organization’s inclusiveness,” according to the release.

The National Renal Administrators Association (NRAA) was founded in 1977. The name change was part of a bigger effort to rebrand the organization. A task force was formed in August 2018 as a directive from the NRAA board of directors. The rebranding proposal and change to the name of the organization was approved in June 2020, but an announcement was delayed because of the COVID-19 pandemic, according to the release.

“We are pleased to have an identity that is more inclusive of our representation across the entire community of those who dedicate their careers to helping people with kidney disease,” Renal Healthcare Association President Maria Regnier, RN, MSN, CNN, said in the release.

The organization’s new website is www.renalhealthcare.org.
