KidneyX seeks submissions for second round of pandemic-centered challenge

KidneyX has set a Jan. 20 deadline for submissions to Round 2 of the COVID-19 Kidney Care Challenge.
Healio Nephrology reported on the November launch of the challenge, which aims to spur the development of solutions that either reduce transmission of the virus to patients with kidney disease or that reduce the risk for kidney damage if the virus is contracted.
“KidneyX is particularly interested in solutions that consider the patient experience and could be implemented without requiring significant time, expertise, money or other resources,” the organization stated in a press release. “Solutions that reduce the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on communities facing existing health disparities are encouraged.”
KidneyX is offering $300,000 in total prize money, with each winning team receiving $20,000.
Round 2 is open to any eligible registrants from Round 1, as well as those who did not enter the first round. The submission form for Round 2 can be found here.
