U.S. News & World Report has released the 14th edition of its “Best Children’s Hospitals” rankings and has again granted Boston Children’s Hospital the top position in pediatric nephrology.
According to the publication, the rankings are determined through an evaluation of approximately 200 medical centers, centering on patient safety, infection prevention and adequacy of nurse staffing.
A press release regarding the 2020 to 2021 rankings noted the list is developed to “help families facing complex and rare conditions find the best medical care for their children.”
This year, a “Hospital Heroes” list was also launched to recognize health care workers who responded to the COVID-19 pandemic; the Best Children’s Hospitals list, however, was not impacted by these challenges as the hospitals were ranked prior to the pandemic, according to the release.
“Across our nation, health care professionals are striving against unprecedented challenges to provide the best possible care to each of their patients,” Ben Harder, chief of health analysis and managing editor at U.S. News, said in the release. “The nurses, doctors and other professionals at the Best Children’s Hospitals have demonstrated a track record of delivering top-notch care to children with diverse medical needs.”
The top-ranked pediatric hospitals in nephrology for 2020 to 2021 include the following:
- Boston Children’s Hospital;
- Texas Children’s Hospital;
- Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center;
- Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital Stanford;
- Seattle Children’s Hospital;
- Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia;
