Andy Johnston

One of the largest providers of dialysis services for patients with kidney disease, US Renal Care, has named Andy Johnston, BS, MHA, as its new chief operating officer.

According to a press release from the company, before beginning his professional career with health care provider services, Johnston attended both Brown University and Duke University, where he received his BS in biology and Master of Healthcare Administration, respectively.

Since then, the release indicated that Johnston has held numerous leadership positions in related companies across the United States, most recently serving as the chief development officer for United Surgical Partners International Inc.

When considering candidates to fill the role, US Renal Care “sought someone with strong industry relationships and a keen understanding of multi-site health care provider businesses,” according to the company’s chief medical officer and interim CEO, Mary Dittrich.

“Andy Johnston is an accomplished and respected leader with a long, proven track record of success in cultivating and growing strong physician partnerships,” she said in the release. “He brings a deep understanding of the intricacies of overseeing a vast network of clinics and partnerships, and we are excited to welcome him to our team.”

She added that Johnston’s “focus on teamwork and developing physician partnerships strongly supports our patient-centric approach to providing the highest quality care.”

Expressing his perspective on joining the company, Johnston said, “[US Renal Care] USRC is at the forefront of patient care, partnering with the best nephrologists in the country to provide a safe and compassionate environment for its patients with chronic kidney disease. They are driven by an incredible group of leaders that includes world class clinicians and strategists and I have great confidence and excitement about the future of this company,”

Mark Caputo, board chair for US Renal Care, also commented on Johnston’s appointment. “I have no doubt he will be an incredible member of this team and provide valuable insight as we continue to deliver long-term, strategic growth for the company,” he said.
