Coinciding with the start of National Kidney Month, Fresenius Kidney Care has launched an online resource for patients and their caregivers, according to a press release from the company.

Referred to as the Kidney Care Community, this virtual space allows patients with chronic kidney disease, as well as their supporters, to connect with one another and share experiences.

“Having support from a community plays a critical role in a patient’s care, providing a sense of connection among individuals living with kidney disease and their caregivers,” Mike Asselta, president of Fresenius Kidney Care, said in the release.

The online forum also encourages users to ask questions and covers topics such as diet, exercise, travel and treatment options.

The launch of the Kidney Care Community follows an announcement by Fresenius regarding a new telehealth feature, which gives patients the opportunity to schedule video chats with physicians. The telehealth component will be added to the PatientHub, part of the company’s larger platform for home dialysis. The community can be accessed through the PatientHub or by visiting https://community.freseniuskidneycare.com/s/.

“As we see a growing interest in choosing to dialyze at home, we are even more committed to creating an accessible support network for people living with kidney disease,” Asselta said.
