NRAA inducts new leadership, including president-elect to begin term in 2020

The National Renal Administrators Association has elected several individuals to serve in leadership positions, all of whom were inducted at its annual conference last week. New officers included a treasurer, three at-large directors and a president-elect who will begin her term in the fall of 2020.

According to a press release, NRAA President-elect Caprice Vanderkolk, RN, BS, MS, BC-NE, nurse manager at the University of Minnesota Fairview Hospital, will continue serving on the board of directors. During her time on the board, she has contributed to a variety of committees and councils, such as infection control, pediatrics, home dialysis and finance. As president-elect, she will act as a liaison to assigned committees, preparing for her role as president in which she will collaborate with all NRAA officers to improve resources for independent and community-based dialysis providers.

An NRAA member for 6 years who is especially interested in increasing membership value and bolstering the financial strength of the organization, David Oppenlander, MBA, CPA, chief financial officer of the Centers for Dialysis Care, will serve as treasurer for 2 years. According to the release, Oppenlander has already been part of the NRAA’s advocacy council, finance committee and membership committee.

In addition to president-elect and treasurer, three at-large directors — who support the interests and concerns of NRAAs members — have been added to the 2019 to 2020 board of directors. Rob Bomstad, RN, BS, MS, administrator and CEO of Dialysis Centers of Northwest Arkansas; Peggy Bushey, BSN, RN, CDN, renal nurse supervisor at the University of Vermont Medical Center; and William Poirier, MBA, RN, regional administrator for Greenfield Health Systems, will all serve the board for 3 years while simultaneously chairing a standing committee.
