HHS holding webinar today on Advancing American Kidney Health payment models

HHS is holding its first webinar, open to the public today, that will provide details on its four new voluntary kidney payment models for the recently announced Advancing American Kidney Health initiative.

The 1-hour webinar, being presented at 12:30 p.m. EDT, will offer details on the Kidney Care First (KCF) and Comprehensive Kidney Care Contracting (CKCC) models designed to work alongside the ESRD Treatment Choices (ETC) model, which was released as a proposed rule on July 10. The ETC model, which HHS plans to launch in January, will be mandatory for 50% of U.S. nephrologists.

Specifically, HHS announced goals to improve kidney health that include the following:

  • reduce the number of Americans developing ESKD by 25% by 2030;
  • have 80% of new patients with ESKD in 2025 either receiving dialysis at home or receiving a transplant; and
  • double the number of kidneys available for transplant by 2030.
