Northwest Kidney Centers announces winner of Clyde Shields Award

Steven Huebner of Bellevue, Washington, will be awarded the 2019 Clyde Shields Award for Distinguished Service by the Northwest Kidney Centers at the organization’s board dinner, which is scheduled for April 25.
According to a press release, Huebner has supported Northwest Kidney Centers for more than 3 decades with volunteer work and philanthropic gifts, eventually advising the organization’s CEO and executive team.
“Although he completed his board chair role 2011, even today he regularly provides advice, makes connections, provides board nomination ideas, facilitates strategic collaborations, fosters fundraising goals and makes substantial financial and in-kind gifts — all in his emeritus role,” Joyce F. Jackson, Northwest Kidney Centers president and CEO, said in the release. “He is only one phone call away — sharing background, wisdom and connections.
According to the release, as a volunteer leader, Huebner led the update of strategic plans several times, helped to recruit key talent to the board as well as advised on executive team recruitments. Additionally, Huebner co-chaired the first capital campaign for Northwest Kidney Centers, raising funds to renovate its flagship building.
“Truly, Steve has made a significant difference in advancing our organization’s mission of patient care, education and research over the past 30-plus years and it is appropriate to honor him,” Jackson said.
