CHICAGO — The Renal Physicians Association presented two awards at its annual meeting here, including one for services to the organization and the other for excellence in practice management.
Louis H. Diamond, MBChD, former RPA president and medical director, received the 2019 Distinguished Nephrology Service Award for “his driving force in advocacy for the kidney community,” the RPA said in a press release. Diamond has served as RPA’s delegate to the AMA for the past several decades. In addition to his volunteer roles serving RPA, Diamond has held numerous other leadership positions at various national organizations including the National Quality Forum, the Physician Consortium for Performance Improvement, the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society, the National Patient Safety Foundation and the Forum of ESRD Networks.
Nephrology Associates P.C. of Nashville received the 2019 RPA Exemplary Practice Award. Under the leadership of practice president Ashish Soni, MD, Nephrology Associates Nashville delivers kidney care to nearly 25,000 patients in 24 outpatient locations, 43 dialysis clinics and 33 hospitals throughout the middle Tennessee Valley. In addition, the practice has two in-house programs to help patients with CKD better navigate their disease process and slow their progression of kidney failure.
