Rosenberg named ASN president

The ASN has named Mark E. Rosenberg, MD, FASN, as its president for 2019. He officially assumed the role during ASN Kidney Week 2018.

Rosenberg serves as the vice dean for education and academic affairs at the University of Minnesota Medical School, where he oversees undergraduate and graduate medical education.

According to an ASN press release, Rosenberg’s focus includes expanding the nephrology workforce, enhancing learning programs and integrating trainees into professional care teams. He also intends to continue initiatives like Kidney TREKS and Kidney STARS.

“Nephrology is a specialty at the cutting edge of discovery, as well as transformations in clinical practice, medical education and health policy,” Rosenberg said in the release. “The future of the field is bright, and I am proud to be the incoming president of ASN.”
