Fresenius Medical Care North America announced Ron Rodgers, the company’s executive vice president and president of its kidney care division, is leaving the company at the end of the year. He will be replaced by Mike Asselta, who has been with the dialysis provider for nearly 4 years and has more than 20 years of experience in the health care industry.

“We have great bench strength in our leadership ranks and through best-in-class leadership development are almost always in a position to promote from within,” company spokesperson Brad Puffer told Healio.com/Nephrology in an announcement of the change.

Rodgers joined the company in 2010 when Fresenius acquired National Vascular Care, the company he co-founded. He helped Fresenius expand the company, later renamed Azura Vascular Care, which provides access management services for dialysis, peripheral arterial disease, varicose veins and other access-related complications. Azura has centers in 26 states, according to the company website.

Asselta will be responsible for overseeing the dialysis services business as well as Spectra Laboratories. Prior to joining Fresenius in 2015, he served as chief operating officer for LabOne Inc., was vice president for Quest Diagnostics and served as executive vice president for SelectQuote Senior. – by Mark E.
