NKF and TMF Health Quality Institute collaborate to improve prevention of CKD

The National Kidney Foundation and TMF Health Quality Institute are partnering to improve chronic kidney disease treatment through increased screening and education.
“[The National Kidney Foundation] NKF is pleased to partner with TMF Quality Innovative Network to improve early detection and treatment of CKD among those at highest risk,” Kevin Longino, CEO of the NKF and a kidney transplant patient, said in a press release from the foundation. “The special innovative project is a result of our ongoing advocacy efforts to make early detection a national public health priority.”
The project, administered through CMS, will promote and increase timely screening, early diagnosis and treatment of CKD.
“We are excited to partner with NKF to work with primary care physicians and help improve the lives of their patients with kidney disease,” Russell Kohl, MD, FAAFP, chief medical officer for TMF Health Quality Institute, said in the release. “We greatly appreciate NKF’s expertise in providing educational materials and events to ensure the success of this project.”
The first training program from the NKF for primary care givers will be a continuing medical education webinar featuring Michael Choi, MD, president and chair of the NKF Scientific Advisory Board. The webinar will take place on May 16, 2018 from 12:00 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. EST.
