VIDEO: Dialysis is still status quo, still patients can expect changes

At the Renal Physicians Association Annual Meeting, Paul T. Conway, president of the American Association of Kidney Patients, spoke about the evolution of dialysis and what changes patients can expect to see going forward.

“I think most patients, if you ask them, they have an intuitive understanding of the fact that dialysis in large part is kind of status quo. It hasn’t really changed in 30 years. There’s been modifications to machines, they’ve gotten smaller and some of the other technologies, but patients are actually quite frustrated and quite intense about seeing substantive change in how care is delivered,” he said. “So, just in the past year we’ve had great things happen.”
