Devastating floods in Louisiana require quick action from dialysis providers

On Aug. 12 and 13, some areas of Southeast Louisiana received more than 25 inches of rain, overflowing rivers and damaging more than 100,000 homes. At least 13 people died.
A natural disaster requires quick action and coordination from dialysis providers, who must not only tend to their patients who require consistent, lifesaving therapy, but also to their employees, whose homes and families are affected by the devastation.
The two largest dialysis providers, Fresenius Medical Care and DaVita Kidney Care, provided details of how they handled this catastrophic event. -by Rebecca Zumoff
