DaVita HealthCare Partners Inc. has announced plans to begin operations in Brazil. Dennis Kogod, CEO of DaVita's international operations, said the company plans to bring its kidney care services to the country, and work with the Brazilian government to expand its integrated care functions. DaVita operates in 11 countries and serves more than 1.5 million patients.

There are more than 110,000 Brazilians on dialysis, according to DaVita.

"Our objective in Brazil, as it is in all the countries in which DaVita HealthCare Partners operates, is to deliver world-class care and improve quality of life for our patients," said Kogod. -by Rebecca Zumoff
