CMS to hold webinar on ESRD QIP payment year 2021
The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services will hold a listening session on the proposed rule for payment year 2021 on Wednesday, July 26 from 2 to 3 pm ET. (Register here)
The agency said they will cover the following topics:
- ESRD QIP legislative framework
- Proposed measures, standards, scoring method, and payment reduction scale for PY 2021
- Proposed modifications to PY 2019 and PY 2020 activities
- Methods for reviewing and commenting on the proposed rule
In a proposed rule issued June 29, CMS said in payment year 2021 the agency would remove the current Vascular Access Type clinical measures and replace them with new measures––Standard Fistula Rate and Long-Term Catheter Rate—that were recently endorsed by the National Quality Forum.
CMS proposes to use CROWNWeb, rather than Medicare claims data, as the primary data source for these new measures. The agency would also revise the Standardized Transfusion Ratio clinical measure so that the specifications for that measure are consistent with the specifications that were endorsed by the National Quality Forum.
The agency also said it was considering including acute kidney injury patients to the QIP measures.
