ANNA and NN&I look at health and safety issues for nephrology nurses
The American Nephrology Nurses Association and Nephrology News & Issues are conducting a national survey-based study on the health and safety of nephrology nurse practice settings and the experiences of nephrology nurses.
The study was developed by ANNA and NN&I and is a follow-up to the ANNA study “Patient Safety in Nephrology Nurse Practice Settings,” which was conducted in 2014. The new study will focus specifically on nephrology nurses – their safety, health of their practice settings and their experiences.
“This is an important study, the results of which have the potential to influence the health and safety of nephrology nurses, nephrology nursing practice and – ultimately – patient outcomes,” ANNA president Alice Hellebrand, MSN, RN, CNN, said.
The survey, which will remain open until Jan. 29, asks for details about work environments and health and safety in nephrology nurse practice settings.
“To improve these environments and advocate for healthy and safe nephrology nurse work environments, we need detailed information from nephrology nurses themselves on the status of their work environments and the best practices that contribute to healthy and safe practice settings,” Hellebrand said.
“We are excited as a news organization to be working with ANNA on this important survey,” Mark E. Neumann, editor-in-chief for NN&I, said.
Articles on the results of the survey will appear in NN&I and in the Nephrology Nursing Journal later this spring.
Nurses are encouraged to not only complete the survey, but to also share it with others. The survey will take about 20 minutes to complete. Individual survey responses are confidential.
Those who complete the survey will have the opportunity to be entered into a drawing for a free copy of Contemporary Nephrology Nursing (third edition) or the Core Curriculum for Nephrology Nursing (sixth edition). Four individuals will receive the book of their choice.
