Acumen Physician Solutions, a subsidiary of Fresenius Medical Care North America (FMCNA), has joined forces with Epic Systems Corporation to develop Acumen 2.0. Acumen said the new EHR and practice management software is set to launch in 2018.

“Our collaboration with Epic delivers next generation EHR capabilities for our valued physicians and clinicians, improving usability and enhancing data sharing capabilities,” said FMCNA CEO Bill Valle.

Epic is used by 405 health care organizations covering 41,200 clinics, 1,950 hospitals, and over 336,000 physicians.

“Acumen 2.0 improves out-of-the-office workflow efficiency for our many physicians who spend considerable time in hospitals working as consultants and/or attending to their own patients in clinics,” said Frank Maddux, MD, FMCNA’s Chief Medical Officer and Executive Vice President for Clinical and Scientific Affairs, and Founder of Acumen Physician Solutions. “Enhancing access to patient data will not only improve care coordination and the user experience for our physicians, but will also drive innovation and quality for the benefit of the patients entrusted to our care.”
