U.S. Renal Care to become 4th largest provider with IDS acquisition

U.S. Renal Care’s planned acquisition of Ambulatory Services of America Inc., which includes Long Beach, Calif-based Innovative Dialysis Systems, will make the provider the fourth largest in the country.
The acquisition, expected to close in August, will nearly double the number of patients that Plano, TX-based U.S. Renal Care serves in its own clinics or manages in others. The combination will include just over 13,000 patients and 223 clinics and home and specialty hospital dialysis programs and facilities in 19 states and the territory of Guam. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

The purchase for U.S. Renal, which currently has about one-third of its clinics in Texas, expands the company’s reach to the West Coast, where IDS has the second largest number of California clinics –– 26 ––among mid-sized providers (behind Satellite Healthcare) Innovative also gives U.S. Renal a new presence in Florida, Michigan, New Mexico, Wyoming, and Guam, and strengthens the provider's position in other states by adding six clinics in Georgia, four in Missouri, eight in Ohio, three in Texas, and four in Virginia.
U.S. Renal said it plans to sell ASA’s subsidiary, Radiation Oncology Services of America, Inc., which operates 17 radiation oncology centers in five states.
