Renal dietitian Peggy Harum receives outstanding service award from Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics

Peggy HarumRenal dietitian Peggy Harum RD, LD, has received the 2013–2014 Outstanding Service Award from the Renal Practice Groupof the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics (AND).

Harum, Based in Ft. Worth, Texas, works at Renal Ventures Management, LLC and is an NN&I editorial advisory board member. She received the award for her service in the advancement of renal nutrition, including her editorial contributions to multiple journals and publications, efforts on behalf of numerous renal organizations and her longstanding AND membership. 

“This is a great honor,” said Harum. “I am humbled and appreciative for the recognition and plan to continue my efforts to raise awareness of the critical role registered dietitians play in chronic kidney disease management.”

Harum has just completed work on her second edition of “Healthy Eating for Chronic Kidney Disease Patients,” her eighth published book to date. Harum has also contributed to several books on nutrition for hemodialysis patients, has been published in dozens of medical journals and dietary guides, and she has conducted numerous presentations and lectures throughout the U.S. and globally.

The AND Outstanding Service Award will be formally presented to Harum Oct. 19 during a breakfast ceremony in front of her peers and colleagues. The presentation will occur at the Omni Hotel in Atlanta during the 2014 AND Food & Nutrition Conference & Expo. The award includes transportation, lodging, meals and attendance at the three-day conference.
