Proposed rules would extend EHR safe harbor
The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services and U.S. Health and Human Services Department have issued proposed rules to extend the EHR safe harbor that relaxed anti-kickback laws to promote the use of electronic health-record systems.

The proposed rules would extend the sunset date of the exception, remove the electronic prescribing capability requirement, and update the provision under which electronic health records technology is deemed interoperable. In addition, the agencies are requesting public comment on other changes we are considering.
