President Barack Obama Tuesday signed into law legislation that will provide a temporary patch for the unpopular sustainable growth rate (SGR) formula for paying Medicare physicians, and provide some important benefits to the renal community and pharmaceutical industry.

The U.S. Senate approved the legislation March 31 by a 64-35 vote.
