NxStage Kidney Care opens its doors

NxStage Medical Inc. has opened its first dialysis treatment center under its subsidiary NxStage Kidney Care Inc. The new center, located outside St. Louis in Des Peres, Mo., has received Medicare certification from the Missouri Board of Health and is accepting new patients.
NxStage said it created NxStage Kidney Care to provide enhanced access to home-based and more frequent dialysis. The new 6,300 sq. ft. center is certified to provide home and in-center dialysis, and offers 24-hour support to home dialysis patients and flexible hours for its in-center patients. NxStage said they will open the dialysis center earlier in the morning or later at night to accommodate patient schedules. "Our model allows physicians the flexibility to prescribe what is truly best for their patients—whether in terms of modality, location, frequency or duration. We will provide therapy consistent with the physician’s prescription," NxStage said.
