Modern Healthcare ranks DaVita's Kent Thiry number 10 in 100 most influential people in health care

Modern Healthcare has ranked DaVita Healthcare Partners CEO and Chairman Kent Thiry number 10 in its annual ranking of the 100 most influential people in health care. Thiry pulled in $17,099,000 in compensation in 2014, according to a proxy statement. The magazine said readers' votes counted toward 50% of the final outcome and the senior editors accounted for the other 50%. Readers submitted more than 15,000 submissions and a final ballot of 300 candidates was based on those receiving the most nominations.
The magazine ranked President Barack Obama as the most influential. Bernard Tyson, president and CEO of Kaiser Permanente, was ranked number two, and Sylvia Mathews Burwell, secretary of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services was ranked number three.
