Kent Thiry to step down as CEO of DaVita's kidney care division

Kent Thiry will step down from his role as CEO of the kidney care division of DaVita HealthCare Partners Inc., according to a news release. Thiry will remain CEO of DaVita HealthCare Partners Inc., as well as co-chairman of the board. Javier Rodriguez will move from president to CEO of DaVita's kidney care division.

"Javier is a dynamic, decisive leader who has played a key role in DaVita's success," said Thiry. "He's been with me since my first day as CEO nearly 15 years ago and I couldn't be happier or prouder to see him take over leadership of our kidney care business."

Thiry took over the leadership of what was then called Total Renal Care in 1999 as it evolved into present day DaVita. Since that time Rodriguez has been a member of the senior leadership team.

"We have a talented team that is dedicated and passionate about building on the strong legacy of innovation and quality care," said Rodriguez. "The future of health care will be challenging and exciting. Our network of physicians and caregivers provides a strong foundation for transforming the delivery of care."
