Dialysis Clinic Inc., Billings Clinic enter joint venture for dialysis clinic in Montana

Dialysis Clinic Inc. and Billings Clinic entered into a joint venture agreement on April 1, 2014, forming Billings Clinic Dialysis LLC, in Billings, Mont. Billings Clinic is the largest health care system in Montana and is a physician-led health care organization, consisting of a multi-specialty physician group practice, a 285-bed hospital, and a 90-bed skilled nursing and assisted living facility.

The two non-profit corporations began talks several years ago to review the value of partnering after CMS issued a new rule bundling dialysis payments.

“In the changing climate of renal care, we were looking for opportunities to improve the efficiency of our dialysis facility while we continue to focus on delivering care that puts quality and safety as a priority," said Peggy Wharton, vice president of clinic operations at Billings Clinic."

The 17-station clinic provides in-center hemodialysis and home peritoneal dialysis for patients in Montana and northern Wyoming. The 17-station clinic offers in-center hemodialysis and home peritoneal dialysis, and in-hospital acute services.
