Deadline for enrollment in 2013 PQRS-EHR pilot is Feb. 19

The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services is reminding physicians that the deadline to choose to participate in the 2013 Physician Quality Reporting System (PQRS) Medicare EHR Incentive Pilot is Feb. 19, 2014. Beginning Feb. 20, eligible professionals that have selected the electronic reporting pilot will notbe able to change their participation in the program, CMS said in a memo. Pilot participants will have until Feb. 28 to submit their PQRS data to CMS.

The agency also said eligible professionals who access the EHR attestation system for the first time between Feb. 20 and March 31 willonly be able to attest to r clinical quality measures (CQMs) and will no longer be able to select the pilot option.


Physicians who do not wish to participate in the pilotmust do the following by Feb. 19 at 11:59 pm ET:

  • Go back to your EHR Incentive Program registration.
  • On the “e-Reporting” screen for CQMs, change your selection to “No”.
  • You can then manually enter your CQM data as part of your meaningful use attestation.

CMS said itis important to deselect the electronic reporting pilot option if you are not planning to submit 12 months of CQM data electronically through PQRS by Feb.28 at 11:59pm ET.
