CMS to meet with kidney care coalition after ESCO application deadline
On Aug. 19, Insidehealthpolicy.com reported that a coalition of ESRD patient advocates and providers will be meeting with officials from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services to discuss the future of the Comprehensive ESRD Initiative, or renal-specific Accountable Care Organization demonstration. The coalition will meet with Patrick Conway, CMS chief medical officer and acting director of the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Innovation, after the deadline for submitting applications to be an ESRD Seamless Care Organization (ESCO) passes on Aug. 30.
Coalition participants include representatives from the American Association of Kidney Patients, American Kidney Fund, American Nephrology Nurses Association, American Society of Nephrology, American Society of Pediatric Nephrology, Dialysis Patient Citizens, Renal Physicians Association, and the Renal Support Network.
