The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services released the revised application today for dialysis providers to participate in the Comprehensive ESRD Care initiative. The revised request for application is available for download here.

CMS announced late last year that it would postpone its planned January launch of the initiative after getting few applications. Through this initiative, CMS will partner with groups of health care providers and suppliers—ESRD Seamless Care Organizations (ESCOs)—to test and evaluate a model of payment and care delivery specific to Medicare beneficiaries with ESRD. The goals of the model are to improve beneficiary health outcomes and reduce Medicare expenditures, CMS said.

Learn more about ESCOs and how independent providers can participate in the initiative. Attend the 14-week webinar series, "Roadmap to the future of integrated kidney care," sponsored by the National Renal Administrators Association, starting Tuesday, April 15. Open to NRAA members and non-members. To register go to www.nraa.org.

Letters of Intent are due June 23 for large dialysis organizations (LDO) applicants and Sep. 15 for non-LDO applicants. Completed applications are due on June 23 for LDO applicants and September 15 for non-LDO applicants.
