The American Association of Kidney Patients said it is offering a limited number of scholarships to attend the 2014 AAKP National Patient Meeting. Scholarships cover the cost of the meeting registration fee for patients and caregivers.

Scholarship applications can be downloaded by visiting the AAKP website, www.aakp.org/community/programs-events/aakp-national-patient-meeting.html.  The completed application must be returned to the AAKP office by Aug. 22, 2014 to be eligible.

The AAKP National Patient Meeting showcases innovative therapies dedicated to improving the quality of life for kidney patients. Attendees include patients, family members, health care professionals, patient support organizations, and our renal industry partners.  The meeting provides opportunities to address emerging issues.  It includes educational presentations from patients, nurses, social workers, dietitians, doctors and other professional experts in the field. The agenda features a variety of formal and informal meetings and activities including, general sessions, breakout sessions, roundtable discussions, an evening dinner, a wellness center and cooking demonstration.

“Cost and access are two common obstacles to patients gaining knowledge to improve their health. This is our way of trying to address those barriers,” said AAKP President Sam Pederson.
