We caught up with Gonzalo Bearman, MD, MPH, at the Society for Healthcare Epidemiology of America Spring Conference to ask how he got “Hooked on ID.”

Bearman is a professor of medicine and chief of the division of infectious diseases at Virginia Commonwealth University.

After delivering a closing plenary presentation on the potential for AI systems to help clinicians deliver better care to patients, Bearman told Healio why being an ID physician is “the best job ever.”
