May is Lyme Disease Awareness Month.

To prevent tick bites, the CDC recommends taking the following preventive measures:

  • Use Environmental Protection Agency-registered insect repellants.
  • Wear clothing treated with 0.5% permethrin, and retreat clothing annually.
  • Shower after spending time outdoors.
  • Check daily for ticks.
  • Tumble clothes in a dryer on high heat for 10 minutes after spending time outdoors.
