On April 12, the CDC and Society for Healthcare Epidemiology of America will co-host Decennial Day, a 1-day virtual program focusing on health care epidemiology, infectious diseases, antimicrobial stewardship and infection prevention.
Decennial Day will be a complimentary program to the SHEA Spring Conference, which will be held virtually from April 13-16. It will feature selected sessions from the 2020 Decennial Conference, which has been held every 10 years since 1970 but was canceled last year because of COVID-19.
“It is a time where we pause to acknowledge all of the progress in the field of health care-associated infections and antimicrobial resistance — not just in the United States but globally,” Infectious Disease News Editorial Board Member Denise M. Cardo, MD, director of the CDC’s Division of Healthcare Quality Promotion, says in this video.
“I count on all of you not just to listen but to embrace the concepts for how we move toward the future because that is how we can define what is needed for the next 10 years and be part of the solution globally,” Cardo said.
A supplement featuring abstracts that were due to be presented last year at the Decennial Conference was published in October in Infection Control & Hospital Epidemiology.
