WASHINGTON — Kerry LaPlante, PharmD, FCCP, FIDSA, the president-elect of the Society for Infectious Diseases Pharmacists, said one of the key messages communicated throughout the World Anti-Microbial Resistance Congress is the importance of the use of safe and effective antimicrobials.

LePlante stressed the importance of a One Health approach to the global health crisis of antimicrobial resistance, requiring “unity across all the professions” to address the problem.

“In the end, not collaborating isn’t an option,” she said.
