VIDEO: Addressing equal representation at IDWeek
SAN FRANCISCO — In this video from IDWeek, Jeanne Marrazzo, MD, MPH, director of the division of infectious diseases at the University of Alabama at Birmingham School of Medicine, talks about the effort to address gender representation during the conference.
According to Marrazzo, the IDWeek programming committee put a “laser focus” on trying to ensure a gender balance among participants on stage.
“That means making sure that moderators, introducers, facilitators [and] symposium invitees really represent the diversity that our IDSA membership represents,” she said.
Marrazzo said addressing racial, ethnic and LGBTQ diversity will be a “huge priority” in planning for IDWeek 2019 in Washington, D.C.
