NEW ORLEANS — Peter Chin-Hong, MD, Infectious Disease News Editorial Board member and professor of medicine at the University of California, San Francisco, School of Medicine, talks about emerging issues in solid organ transplantation, the focus of a session at ASM Microbe.

According to Chin-Hong, these issues include multidrug resistance, donor-derived infections and diagnostics.

“We’re talking about diagnostics mainly because we don’t know the diagnosis or opportunistic infection in many cases of solid organ transplantation,” he said.

Disclosure: Chin-Hong reports having a research grant from Karius.
