The Association for Professionals in Infection Control and Epidemiology has appointed Linda R. Greene, RN, MPS, CIC, FAPIC, to lead the organization as 2017 president, according to a recent press release.

“[Greene] has long been recognized as a national infection prevention expert, generously sharing her expertise with fellow APIC members and the broader health care community through participation in numerous task forces and committees,” Katrina Crist, MBA, CAE, APIC chief executive officer, said in the release. “Her extensive knowledge of the field and her leadership experience will be a tremendous asset to APIC as we seek to advance our patient safety mission.”

Linda R. Greene

Greene, a leading expert in infection prevention with more than 25 years of experience, has served APIC as president of her local chapter, president of the New York State APIC Advisory Council, and board member and secretary of the APIC Board of Directors. She has experience as an APIC representative in expert panels, such as the New York State technical advisory panel for public reporting of hospital-acquired infections and two CDC infection-related workgroups.

Her authorship on papers regarding influenza vaccination in health care settings and prevention of health care-associated infections (HAIs) make her an unparalleled benefit to APIC’s mission. For her work decreasing hospitalwide rates of line-associated bloodstream infections and other HAIs, she has earned prestigious awards, including the Hospital Association of New York State’s Pinnacle Award for Quality and APIC’s Heroes of Infection Prevention award.
