APIC introduces new online infection prevention resource

The Association for Professionals in Infection Control and Epidemiology has launched a new online platform called Industry Perspectives to expand access of information and research on infection prevention for health care professionals, according to a press release.

“Geared to the needs of busy health care professionals, Industry Perspectives provides easy access to evidence-based information related to infection prevention products and services to facilitate better understanding and evaluation of innovations in patient safety,” Katrina Crist, MBA, CEO of the Association for Professionals in Infection Control and Epidemiology (APIC), said in the press release. “We are pleased to partner with our industry colleagues to offer this new resource to expand the knowledge base and competencies of infection preventionists.”

Industry Perspectives, a mobile-friendly web platform, is intended to help infection preventionists and health care professionals expand their knowledge of infection prevention products, scientific methodology and best safety practices for patients. The information provided includes white papers, background articles, reports, research papers, case studies, product guides, videos, PowerPoint presentations, podcasts and educational session proceedings.

APIC experts will review the content provided by industry, and all subject matter will come from health care companies. Some areas of focus will include environmental infection; hand hygiene; health information technology; patient preoperative prep; care settings; decontamination, disinfection, and sterilization; health care-associated infection types and pathogens. – by Savannah Demko
