Infectious Disease News prepares for IDWeek 2016

NEW ORLEANS — Infectious Disease News and Healio.com will be onsite at IDWeek 2016 to offer live coverage of the latest findings presented at the conference, held from Oct. 26-30.

IDWeek is supported by the Infectious Diseases Society of America, the Society for Healthcare Epidemiology of America, the HIV Medicine Association, and the Pediatric Infectious Diseases Society. The annual meeting allows thousands of health care professionals with varied backgrounds and expertise — including researchers, clinicians, quality and patient safety practitioners, epidemiologists and public health officials — to share their challenges and achievements in infectious diseases.

“IDWeek, the consolidation of several infectious disease conferences, is the most important annual meeting in addressing the full spectrum of this field,” Infectious Disease News Chief Medical Editor Paul A. Volberding, MD, said. “Tracks include adult ID, epidemiology and infection control, global ID, HIV/STD/TB, investigative ID, pediatric ID and a focus on ID trainees. The meeting is strong in presenting the latest research findings, but it also includes many educational sessions, keeping busy clinicians up to date on both established and emerging pathogens. We can of course expect a strong Zika focus. And as always, IDWeek will be the setting for almost countless other meetings, taking advantage of the thousands who will be there in New Orleans.”

Infectious Disease News staff will offer breaking news presented at the meeting, as well as video interviews with experts to gain their perspectives on important presentations. Readers also can expect newswires featuring the conference’s top headlines.
