VIDEO: Limited knowledge about Zika poses challenge in vaccine development

BALTIMORE — Col. Paul B. Keiser, MD, from the Walter Reed Army Institute of Research, reviews current progress in the development of a Zika virus vaccine. Researchers are now in the process of selecting a strain and producing clinical lots of an inactivated vaccine. A significant challenge, according to Keiser, is our limited knowledge about the virus.

“We are learning more every single day,” he says.

Disclosure: Keiser reports no relevant financial disclosures.
