Chinese health officials reported six more cases of influenza A(H7N9) virus, including one death, according to WHO.

The fatal case was identified as a 38-year-old man from Quanzhou City in Fujian province who became ill Jan. 3. The patient had pre-existing medical conditions, including tuberculosis and pneumoconiosis. He died Jan. 10.

The other most recent cases were reported from Nanjing City in Jiangsu province; Jiaxing City in Zhejiang province; Ningbo City in Zhejiang province; and Foshan City in Guangdong province. The patients are aged 30 to 79 years. Two of the patients are in critical condition, according to WHO.

Although the source of the infection is still unclear, there has been no evidence of sustained human-to-human transmission of the virus. WHO does not recommend any travel or trade restrictions as a result of the outbreak.
