World Hepatitis Day: Screening, testing key to elimination
“Eliminate Hepatitis” is this year’s World Hepatitis Day theme. As a part of WHO’s Global Strategy on Viral Hepatitis, which includes the goal of eliminating hepatitis C and hepatitis B, World Hepatitis Day is designed to promote awareness of hepatitis infection, related risks and treatment options.
Non-profit: Low-cost HCV drugs available with shared negotiations

Members of the Infectious Diseases Society of America and the American Association for the Study of Liver Diseases have issued a strongly worded rebuke of a recent Cochrane review of drugs for the treatment of hepatitis C virus infection.
Occult HBV does not affect HCC resection outcomes
The presence of hepatitis B core antibody, or HBcAb, did not affect the outcomes of hepatic resection in patients with either hepatitis C-related or non-B, non-C hepatocellular carcinoma, according to results of a recent study. However, the data showed a possible link between occult hepatitis B infection and hepatocarcinogenesis in patients with non-B, non-C HCC.
HCV rates climbing in younger HIV-positive MSM
Hepatitis C infection rates continue to increase in Northern Europe in recent years among younger men who have HIV and have sex with men, with those more recently infected with HIV showing higher rates of HCV infection, according to a recently published article.
FDA approves Vosevi for HCV
FDA announced the approval of Vosevi for the treatment of adults with chronic hepatitis C genotypes 1 through 6, according to an agency press release.

Implementation of an electronic health record-based prompt significantly increased hepatitis C screening rates among baby boomers in primary care.
Universal Screening is a Pathway to Eradication
When we think about the possibility of universal screening, we can dance around, trying to dig out baby boomers or injection drug users, we can look at different risk factors or select populations, but I’m not satisfied with that. We need to go for full blown eradication, and if we are going to do that, we must screen them and get them into treatment.
